Privacy policy
VedicSamay has no login, and we never ask for your name, phone number or email. This page explains the little information that is used, and why.
Last updated:
Information kept on your device
The last city you viewed is saved in your browser (localStorage) so your city opens directly next time. It is not sent to our server. Your location is requested only when you tap "Find my city", and it is used only on your device to find the nearest city.
Usage measurement (analytics)
To improve the site we use PostHog to count which pages are viewed, which buttons are tapped (such as Send on WhatsApp), approximate country, device type and how fast pages load. We do not collect names, emails or precise location, and we never send what you type into the city search.
For visitors from the UK and the European Union, analytics stores nothing on your device (no cookies).
Advertising
In future the site may show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may then use cookies to serve ads; see Google's policy. Visitors from the UK and the European Union are not shown ads.
Daily morning notification
Only when you tap "Turn on notifications" and allow it in your browser, we store your browser's notification address (push subscription), the chosen city and language in Microsoft Azure, so we can send the morning notification. It contains no name, phone number or email.
Tapping "Turn off", or turning off notifications for this site in your browser settings, deletes this information.
Sending on WhatsApp
The WhatsApp button opens the WhatsApp app on your phone. We do not know whom you send it to; we only count that the button was tapped.
